because of the membership retention issues that seem to continue getting worse, the watchtower corporation appears to be running out of ideas.

in the past, when the numbers have dropped (membership, fs hours, rag placements, money, etc.

) they always came up with a "hook" that would give them a boost until the next drop in numbers (i.e.

At the prodding of the CO, the local congregation joined the trend of setting up at the local Walmart. They bought a tent canopy and had displays printed up. I think they were allowed one day per month to setup outside Walmart. They could have a display and table under their own shelter where people could come up, but the JWs were not supposed to approach customers.
No results. And they couldn't even honestly say that they "gave a witness just by being there," because almost nobody even glanced at them.

who could have foreseen that over 100 years later it would amount to a small band of senior citizens ruling over a vast empire of true believers in excess of 7 million souls?

yet, in reality, that is what the watchtower society amounts to.

people who are contrarian in view who don't want to admit the mainstream churches might be right still insist jesus christ is already among us playing second fiddle to brooklyn new york's ever-changing doctrines and explanations of a 2,000 year old jewish book.. .

witnesses often go on about apostates being spiteful and bitter.

when you get cut off, shunned, or threatened with shunning just for the audacity of thinking differently, it's not surprising that getting angry at the witnesses is the reaction - it's like a self fulfilling prophecy.. but also, i recently posted an email from a 'friend' on this board who told me that everyone he'd spoken to about me said i had changed, become like another person.

it didn't occur to him that the day before i told my parents i'd quit the religion just 3 weeks ago, i met him for lunch, we had a good time and he didn't know anything was up.

on wednesday the 10th, i went to bally's casino for tryouts/auditions for who wants to be a millionaire.

i passed the written test!

then i had to fill out a questionnaire in which i had to try to sound like an interesting person.

Bible printing, a loss of money for the WTS

so i brought this up in another thread... but i think it needs its own discussion.. having had one of the new grey leatherette and silver edged bibles with the new appendixes in my hand.

i immediately thought of all the custom covered nwt bibles you see some publishers sporting at meetings.

also the fact that the co's and wives who'd been given one had to turn it back in seemed very off-putting.. .

I remember that feeling. I wrote about it in this thread. I was so emotionally exhausted during my last years as a JW. With the depression, I would go through phases of insomnia and phases of excessive sleeping... but always still tired. Once I started making plans and fading, things have gotten better.
Have you made any progress fading? I started some other threads with suggestions for faders.

I could only stand to look at it very briefly. It used to be that Watchtower was a waste of paper and time. Now with their website, it's also a waste of bandwidth.

my dad heard from the co who heard from a do that heard from his brother-in-law that heard from the friend of a governing body's wife, that the gb is getting very concerned that "the friends" are losing sight of the nearness of the panda-petting paradise.

many of these friends are also looking too critically at the "spiritual food" provided by the "faithful slave class.".

don't tell anyone else, but i hear that the gb has begun testing something new on some of the sheeple.

Okay, so there was no release at the DC this year of "Watchtower Goggles", "3d Specs", or "Paradise Spheres". I was very upset with my reliable sources... until they told me the latest invention that the GB is working on in Brooklyn that will eclipse these trinkets.
I'm sorry but I can't reveal this secret information just yet. Since I got misinformation once, I'm going to be extra careful this time and pray to Jehovah AND to Freddie Franz about this in order to find out the truth and make it my own... or whatever. But this news is big... BIG, I tell you! It will help to explain the reason for the missing Bibles from KH inventory. And it might simplify the administration of "Anointification Neutralizers", although I'd still love to see a CO go rogue and shoot a bunch of Anointification Neutralizer darts into a GB member during a DC or SAD.

a few months ago, the jws came knocking on my door (see thread).. this discussion continued and the next time she brought a man along with her.

i told them that i'd study with them if they could prove to me god exists and the bible was his book.

for our next visit, only the man showed up.
